Heart Health
The heart has a high ATP demand, and reduced cardiac CoQ10 is associated with chronic heart failure. CoQ10 is authorised as adjunctive therapy for chronic heart failure in several European countries. The largest long-term trial to date (100 mg three times daily for 2 years) reduced major adverse cardiovascular events by close to 50% versus placebo in moderate-to-severe heart failure.

Healthy Aging
Mitochondrial function declines progressively with age, driven by mitochondrial DNA mutations, reduced electron transport chain efficiency, and rising reactive oxygen species production. Plasma CoQ10 falls by roughly 40 to 50% between the second and eighth decade of life (Kalén 1989), a decline that is compounded in elderly individuals taking statins.

Mental Energy
The brain consumes around 20% of total body oxygen despite accounting for only 2% of body weight, making neurons highly dependent on mitochondrial ATP production and CoQ10 status. Ubiquinol, the reduced form of CoQ10, has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier at high doses and raise cerebral CoQ10 levels.
